[LFG] New to private servers — where do I even start?

Been playing retail for years and finally fed up with it. Want to try private servers but honestly don't know where to start. I main DPS (warrior or hunter) and enjoy both PvE and casual PvP. Is there a server and community you'd recommend for someone completely new to this scene?
